Perfect game to end 2020 on ... gah.
The Problem1) So ... I want to go back to early spring when we were discussing the loss of Brandin Cooks and the need to replace his speed so that we could keep our field open and not let defenses squat on us ...
We chose Van Jefferson, who I believe will be a big deal for us ... but we did not replace the deep threat.
This, in my opinion, is the primary factor leading to what we're seeing.
Deep threat is gone ... I cannot remember the last time we threw deep to a WR ... we throw deep in mismatches to TE and RBs the past few games ...
So ... if we have a running game the safety has to come up and we have a little more space to work with in the intermediate play action game. But without a threat in the running game, we don't have a way to get deep or intermediate. We only have the motion and slip screens left ...
This means Jared has to be perfect, and sometimes he throws a perfect ball. But it has put too much pressure on Jared, and now he, throughout the season, has went from the Jared who brought us back against the Bills to the Jared that threw that pass to no one instead of running and slid before the first down marker rather than angling and taking a hit. It's a change in attitude. It's a change in motivation. It's a change in hunger. He doesn't believe in the plan.
The Question2) Can he recover? I don't think anyone can say for certain, honestly. But he's breaking my #1 rule for QBs (relentless energy and optimism during games) and that will be a deal breaker for me if it continues.
Something I think is True3) If Henderson gets around the edge and scores and doesn't get injured, we win the game ... Jamal Adams made a serious play.
The Good4) Floyd's sacks.
5) I guess we have a kicker?
6) We have a general stymying of Russell Wilson that I am a big fan of.
7) Watching the rushes, players will try not to get pushed up field, just squeezing the pocket with him in it rather than trying to get around the corner.
8) Metcalf only making a couple of plays.
9) We get to see Wolford. It's at least someone easy to root for next week rather than having to deal with the sour taste of Goff as we limp into the playoffs.
The Bad10) Not knowing where to start with the bad section.
11) Losing Henderson.
12) Being late on the pass to Higbee.
13) The last Seahawk TD drive ... defense was out of it.
The Ugly14) That pass.
15) the fact that Ramsey had to go talk to Jared. That is a really bad sign.
16) 4 downs and 4 running plays and no score.
17) Knowing they wanted it more than we did.
18) Another fumble on a punt return? Seriously?
College stuff19) Saturday is the best day of games ... lots of talent on the field that day ...
