It works to give you a boost by bringing in elite or very good players you would be hard pressed to find late first round, however it's gonna eat up your cap and it has. So at some point you need to draft and develop as a GM and staff.
That's where the Rams are now too. They're developing some key guys in the backfield, one at WR, one at TE, and a couple on the OL and they need to bring in a few more drafted pieces to round out the roster.
I don't like it, personally. Hard to argue with the wins, but hitting that window where you can win it all requires a ton of things to go right and I think this year's roster missed in some critical areas. BUT that said we might get in the playoffs, we might get a boost from Whit coming back to the OL, we might get a boost from getting Akers healthy for the playoffs, we might get a boost if Jefferson can start getting on the field more, and lastly we're in things IF the defense can rebound from that poor game vs the Jets and get on a hot streak.
So gonna wait and see with this season but overall I do think drafting and developing is our future.
