Zn I don't think any one takes a team lightly at this level
And many of us, including the announcers during the game, think that is exactly what they did in that game (and probably 2 others).
See this thread for
some of the people who see it that way: [
ramsrule.com]
If that's the case then there unlies your problem. And you look at the leaders of this team. Mcvay, Goff, Donald, Ramsey, Woods, Kupp, Whitworth, Brockers, etc. Which ones of these guys aren't pulling their weight? This wasn't a game where we clinched or was just a rest game for the playoffs no bearing on season type of game.
I don't think it;s that simple and I don';t think it gets down to some formula about who is or isn't pulling his weight. It's a TEAM thing. The team believes it is facing an inferior opponent and comes out flat. To my count it happened 3 times this year.
Anyway in the Jets game the announcers--all of them, including the sideline women--kept commenting on the Rams lack of energy. If I had to guess I would say that had a lot to do with the OL, but also the coverages on defenses, since they kept having major communication problems and broken coverages.
If I had to choose I would say it's that McVay is not directly leading when it comes to things like being up for games and that he prefers to be a player's coach.
And contrary to certain myths you see around, it's not cured by some player yelling at the others. That's a myth. I will say this. Vermeil used to say you can't ease into a street fight. And a few times this year, this team has done exactly that.
