Agree with Speed on this one. No doubt McVay and Goff have had this circled since the schedule came out... both want to get the sour taste of the Super Bowl loss out of their mouth. Definitely more important for Goff... if he plays the way he did against the Niners and Dolphins our season could be done quickly. A good game plan from McVay with some adjustments to the Belichick's is important, and could springboard Goff and the Rams to win the last four games.
Why would playing badly in this one game mean the season is over?
He could play badly in this one game and then fine in all the remaining games.
And conversely beating the Patz guarantees nothing in terms of the future games.
A win would be good and help keep the momentum going. But not in some absolute way/
A loss would be bad but not catastrophic--the Rams match up well with their remaining regular season opponents.
We've heard this "this is THE game that tells ALL" thing for weeks now. It never turned out to be what was anticipated. The wins weren't world-breaking births of greatness and the losses were not catastrophic death knells for the franchise (hyperbole is fun, just go with it.)
