I mean when the Rams beat the 49ers in the 3rd game on the 99 season they didn't win the SB that week but that game meant a lot didn't it? People used that as a measuring stick for where they were right? Kurt Warner talked about how the entire team felt like they had to beat the 49ers and by doing so it propelled them. It didn't matter that they lost back to back games to the Titans and Lions in weeks 6 & 7.
IMO tonight absolutely could be a springboard game. You hear players talk about those kinds of things all the time. The Rams conquering the Bellichick defense is absolutely a big deal and something players pay attention to. That SB is not so distant and I'm sure the Flores/Miami game is still there too.
So max says this will be a springboard game... well I don't know that it
will be but it certainly
could be. IMO it just doesn't remotely take a ton of imagination to understand why the Rams as an organization would want to beat the Pats tonight and how that could propel them on their way. Especially enlight of most of us understand how Goff has struggled against certain kinds of defenses, the Rams haven't beaten the Pats since 2001, McVay was embarrassed and the Rams were embarrassed in the SB - AND the Rams think they can win a SB this year
IMO I don't see how anyone can't see the importance of this game for the Rams on national TV in a year where they are trying to establish themselves after missing the playoff last year
