Can he not collapse? Does he have to collapse in games that are hard-fought with these tight scores? How many times have we seen him completely crap the bed in games that are close and hard fought? Forget the occasional blowouts like last years Ravens and Cowboys games. Forget the games that he collapses and the Rams win anyhow. Forget the games where he just doesn't play well (not collapse) and the Rams win or lose
He didn't have to carry the Rams last week. The Rams defense got the Rams within 4 and then Cam Akers got them the TD with 3 carries traveling 80 yards. All he had to do was make a couple of plays
1) On the first series - Make the easy 3rd and 3 throw to Kupp instead of throwing it behind his back and the Rams having settle for a FG
2) Rams down 17-3 Rams driving after defense gets turnover. Goff somehow misses Henderson wide open for a walk-in touchdown. Rams settle for FG trail 17-6
3) On the second int - Like McVay said don't don't throw the ball when you can't see where its going. He threw the ball towards Kupp who was double teamed and because his arm was hit a third 49er intercepted the pass. Talk about embarrassing. I was embarrassed for him.
4) His fumble scrambling. Just protect the ball. No need to fumble there. Jared Goff will never get by these keystone cops plays he makes. And you wonder why people don't think highly of him?
5) The Rams final series. 2nd and 5 Wood wide open for a good 10 yard game. Goff under no pressure throw the ball over his head.
6) 3rd and 5 same series - Goff who is likely told to look for Kupp deep (because otherwise he just doesn't throw that ball) rushes that throw even though he gets no pass rush pressure. Had scanned the field just a little bit he could have hit Woods wide open in the middle of the field. That is assuming of course he didn't throw the ball in the dirt with the way his day was going.
Stop defending the indefensible and no one says he needs to Mahomes and he does not have to carry the Rams. PERIOD
