The team needs him and, as a team leader, part of his job is to protect himself. That run is a great example of where a QB can not only turn the ball over but get hurt. In fact there have been a decent number of times this year where he's scrambled for yardage and been close to taking contact (usually heading out of bounds) I don't want him to take. I know he's trying to make a play, etc. but he has to be smart out there.
Goff has of course run before. Either he has wide open space or he slides.
This is the only time I have seen him try to gain yards with defenders in the way, without sliding.
He has never done that before and most likely won't do it again. In fact I doubt anyone can name another example.
"Pressing" by its definition means you are wired to try and make something happen when things go south, and yes it can often be not smart.
