I haven't really looked too closely at who's out there but another Tannehill would be nice. I mean, a guy with talent obviously but a guy with a decent amount of experience that wound up just being in a bad situation. Haskins just doesn't check many of the boxes I'm looking for. Part of it is just gut reaction. Something rubbed me the wrong way about him and I just don't like his potential.

Mariota almost fits the bill but I don't trust him. If Tannehill hadn't lit it up for the same exact team I might feel differently but I think MM's kind of like Goff. They are what they are and that doesn't look too promising moving forward.

I would love to get Darnold but that's sentiment more than anything. I do like his aggression and playmaking ability but I have to question his decision making at this point. But, I also acknowledge that he's been a really bad situation and he might improve if he was under McVay. Only 22 years old but will the Jets clean house and get rid of him along with Gase? I have to assume that they will bring on a coach that promises to fix Darnold.

Glennon almost fits the mold of another Tannehill but he's almost 30 and is just that notch below Tannehill overall. He's had his moments but by now, seems to have established what he is. I don't think he's a fast enough processor either.

As I've mentioned before, Gilbert and Walker would be guys I would be comfortable giving a shot to. I think they've both shown potential, have some experience and would be cheap. Probably too much of longshots but I still like them. I'd also considered Cody Kessler but I think he's given up. He's only 27 but he's been out of the league. I know most would scoff at him as a suggestion but he was accurate with the ball and didn't turn it over much. He was lacking physically so it's not like he was perfect but I thought the game wasn't too fast for him and he seemed to regularly make good decisions. It was hard to tell too much about his potential considering the awful teams he was on but someone like that has to be out there somewhere.

Ultimately, if the Rams actually do make a move at QB, I'm comfortable with McVay hand-picking someone in the draft or a diamond in the rough rather than a high-priced FA or trade. I believe in him and his system in much the same way that I believed in Martz. Warner, Bulger, Fitz...he made quite a bit of chicken salad and I think McVay could do the same.
