My bet is that McVay isn't happy with all the missed throws either.
Goff played well enough to win against a Bears team with a bad offense. He will have to play better after the bye when he plays 5 games against the division teams. Those are the key games.
Goff threw for 69.7% completions and 2 TDs against a good defense (Bears D is 2nd in completion percentage allowed, 4th in yards per pass attempt, and 3rd in avg. opponent passer rating.)
I didn't think this was a signature game beforehand, and afterwards I absolutely do think it was a good game.
I think the scrutiny is overblown.
Yeah Goff rarely has a game where he DOESN'T make some WTF throws--that's just part of his profile.
In the Bears game he also didn't have his 3rd and long issues. They threw out of 3rd and long 3 times, and they converted 2 of them for 39 yards combined.
It is curious that Goff rarely has a game without some WTF throws. Drives me nuts sometimes, depending on my mood.
Its just as curious that McVay has consistent red zone WTF calls.
Seems like we just gotta live with that, and hope we can win the SB with them.
I stand by my statement that those division games after the bye will tell the tale of Goff this year.
