I think some people just expect perfection on every throw and every play, but that simply isn't going to happpen.... we're 5-2 and just whipped a 5-1 Bears team that has been embarrassing QB's all season, but it wasn't pretty enough for some.
Could he have played better? Of course, but like I said, you could say that about every QB every game 90% of the time.
Collin makes. Some great points about how hard it is to find a franchise QB, I'm just glad we found one after a decade of looking for one
Defense of Goff is fine but why exaggerate? Who's demanding perfection out of him? He left a LOT of plays on the field last night that were simply on him. They warrant criticism.
Do you watch other teams besides the Rams? I watch a ton of football and can say that about every QB almost every game.... Did you see the picks RW threw the other night? It happens to the best of them. It just always seems to be the same couple of posters that want to put him under the microscope every week.
22-33 2TD's 0 INT 233 yds 108 passer rating vs one of best pass defense in NFL isn't much there to criticize
As a matter of fact, I do watch other games. A LOT of other games. And have been for 40 years now.
Which is exactly why I said there was no need to exaggerate the criticism that Goff is getting for having an up and down game. So, let me ask YOU, did you watch the game? Why do you feel that his inexplicable accuracy problems should just be ignored? He was consistently missing passes that he routinely makes. He was making questionable decisions at times. Those are the things that get a QB criticized.
So, do we just ignore what we all saw or just defer to the stat sheet? Because the reality is, Goff threw two different passes before the half that should have been intercepted. They were dropped so his 108 rating wasn't tarnished but I don't think it's unwarranted to point out that he wasn't as efficient as the numbers show.
Mainly, that level of play isn't going to cut it when it matters most and Goff has things to prove in that regard. He is not always going to get a miracle last chance like in NO where he gets to save his day. And, unfair or not, he is an expensive top pick that cost a lot for the Rams to draft and now pay. He has to at least be in the top 10 of QB's.and he's not even that. Goff is paid and treated like he's Peyton Manning but he's not at that level.
Honestly, McVay's coaching and playcalling don't even suggest to me that he has full trust in Goff yet. Goff earns the criticism he gets but I agree with everyone who thinks that he has improved this year. That's not all that can be asked of him but it is a good thing.
