the Ram's can't rise to the occasion tonight then I'm going to be forced into believing they aren't quite ready for prime-time....

BUT IF THEY DO, which I'm expecting: Then I think every team in the NFC West is in for the battle/season of their lives.

There is a team in the NFC East that faces a boxing match with Phylis Diller wearing handcuffs and every team in the NFC West is getting into the ring solo against Ali, Tyson, Marciano, Joe Lewis, and Bruce Lee combined.

And maybe this is the year where they either get it together or fall apart after the bye.

People will see things in this game and it might erase what they saw in the SF game, which actually was more crucial.

But this year there's a lot that makes the Rams a team that's in process and coming together a bit at a time.

If they screw up against Chicago I won't like it but I personally will still see them as having the time to get it together in the 2nd half of the season.

If they win big tonight I will naturally be heartened but that will not necessarily mean they are already full-blown competitors ready for the 2nd half where they play Seattle twice, Arizona twice, SF once more, plus Tampa.

I see Speed is doing the "people are crazy not to see it like I do" number. I don't want to come across that way. I just think it's reasonable that there would be different views of this, because there's a lot with the Rams that is still coming together.
