I think we can agree that he has good or bad tendencies (reaction to pressure), and still disagree about whether he's improving or just temporarily playing better.
If he's capable of improvement then he can get better against pressure even if he started from a very low place.
On that 1st TD Sunday, there was an unblocked rusher barreling down on him. He altered his throw and still put it right on the money to Higbee.
Suckering the defense on the 3rd TD to Higbee, by rolling right and not only looking right, but setting right, and then resetting left to arc it to the TE.
Beautiful stuff. The fake on the Woods end around TD was elite.
Experience matters. The more he sees the more he can call on that to overcome.
He's been up and down. Terrible rookie season. Awesome season and a half under McVay at first, and then the challenges started. Defenses taking away what he and McVay liked to do. Defenses playing to beat HIM and not Gurley.
The lessons weren't learned immediately. How could they be? It takes time and he was still a 24 year old former air raid QB when the real adversity started.
I think one thing that has worked against him for awhile was McVay's scheme requiring a lot of time for certain plays to develop. Throwing quicker now, and it looks like that suits him very well.
It's not all going to be great. There will still be tough days. Other QB's have them, too. For their whole career. But there's growth.
I see it.
