I didn't realize the discrepancy was that *that* great. I'll assume that they made the choice they saw as best. What troubles me about this - beyond the fact that 7-13 just isn't good given the range of distances these guys were kicking from (and the scrimmages are as close to game-like, "pressure" situations as those guys saw in a Rams uni) - is that, at least to the two guys who were cut, is that it feels rigged. Absent the other two both coming down w/injuries, or being head cases, or something else unlikely, they probably feel like the worst guy won.
Setting up a *competition* in which the least experienced, worst-performing guy gets the gig.... just not a good look.
Best guess: the ST coach liked Sloman, drafted him, is personally invested in him, and neither of the other two distinguished himself enough to "win" the job. Plus, the Rams invested a draft pick in only one of those guys. But, however you slice it, feels very stacked-deck, doesn't it?
