Wow - I would have lost money on that bet. I was sure the Rams would go with Hajrullahu: he had really good numbers in the CFL, would be focusing only on kicking with the Rams, which should have made him even better (he was kicker and punter in the CFL), and seemed to have the upper hand in the scrimmages. The only thing I can figure is there must be some info from practices that I haven't seen.
Then, I figured if it wasn't Hajrullahu that it HAD to be MacGinnis! A rookie over a guy who has good numbers in a pro league? OK, so MacGinnis' experience was in the AAF and the XFL. Even so, I'd think his work in those leagues would translate over quite nicely. (Combined 19 for 21).
Silver lining: I won't have to learn how to pronounce 'Hajrullahu'.
