Yes he does have those things. But the conversation was re: Brown starting and Brown doesn't have the tool set that McVay seems to prefer. Well, based off the two RBs the Rams have drafted during his tenure at least.
And btw Hendy can also lower the shoulder a bit. Not as well as Akers but he isn't just a speed guy IMO. His problem is that he's one of those guys who had everything aligned for him to step in and win a job last season but he couldn't. Just like Brown. But at least he does have that ability McVay likes to flex outside in a pinch and you could even run a four vert with him and that speed.
In fact both Akers and Hendy are guys you could run that vert approach with. And this is a different conversation, but running 5 deep is a great way to beat that quarters BS the Patriots used against us in the Super Bowl. Of course that requires actual blocking up front but the threats are there to blow up quarters with those two backs in our backfield plus our TE talent.
