I believe the data, but there are 2 caveats:
The data I've seen on Blythe for 2019 covers the whole season. He was bad at guard for sure, but better at center. I don' t know where to get the numbers, but it would be interesting to see his 2019 grades split out by position.
Blythe had both shoulders operated on in the offseason. There's no way to tell how much his injuries affected his play, but I can't imagine it would be too easy to manhandle a 330lb DT with two bad shoulders. Maybe Allen still beats him out, but if Blythe is 100% I would expect his play to be better this year than last.
Beyond that, another concern is that Blythe was making the line calls even when Allen was at center. I can't imagine Blythe is beating anyone out at guard, so without Blythe out there who's gonna make the calls?
Yet another outstanding post, AlbaNY. Take a bow, sir!
Now just waiting on the obvious rebuttal to AlbaNY post from the Allen fan....getting my popcorn.
