The article refers to a salary cap floor of $175M, which is the minimum a team must spend, not a salary cap.
" As part of the agreement, the 2021
salary cap floor will be set at a minimum of $175 million, up from the initial $165 million, marking a potentially stark drop from the projected 2021 cap of about $210 million."
Although it does say there is a
"potentially stark drop" in the 2021 cap it doesn't say in any specific terms what the 2021 cap will be.
For a point of reference, the current CBA says that team have to spend 89% of the cap. So in 2020, with a cap of $198.2M, the salary cap floor - the amount teams must spend - is $176.4M. What the article says is that next year teams have to spend at least $175M. But is doesn't say what the cap is.
