I traveled a great deal for a few years. Gone 6 days a week. But it provided well for my family. Not ideal, but it was worth it for a relatively small part of my career years.
Millions and millions or our service men and women have left their families for a year or more at a time. Their chosen job can require it; and they don't get paid much for doing it. Oil workers in Alaska, the Arctic and other places do the same.
So I don't want to hear about Russell Wilson, for instance, saying he may want to opt out because his wife is pregnant and doesn't want to endanger her. Noble? Hardly. He has the option of being separated from her for the season (a darn short one) in return for making a truck load of money. That's hardly the end of the world.
And the same for all the other players, as well. They can opt to stay completely separated from their families if necessary. Heck many of us have aged relatives that have been locked up in nursing homes, without physical contact with family, for months.... and not by choice.
And a few young players can't hack this in return for making huge paychecks? For ONE SEASON??? They can even work something out to be in the same room with their loved ones, just a few feet apart.
Cry me a river. I am so over these entitled guys. I am truly starting to wish that the NFL cancels the season and doesn't pay out one dime to these over compensated jerks. Then let them feel what their whining and decisions are like in real life.
Doesn't anyone in the NFL or among the players themselves have the guts to suggest such a thing?
