I think of it more like a respected tradition. I liked, (and still do but can't these days), being alone during games. Also... I used to be a pacer... a frantic one... so I needed room.
After years of losing the championship in the 70's came the season of '79... lot of people remember that season,
, but not many recall that... I think around the 14th/15th week or so? - The Ram's beat the Vikings in OT.... that was the first game I watched from my 'special place'.
So yeah, I guess you could call it 'superstition'... but I never thought of it that way. I never thought, for example, that going to my special place would bring me 'good luck'. It was simply 'comfortable'..., I could scream, I could throw a hissy-fit (all of which I did anyway even if at home)... but alone it was more comfortable. ALSO... and here's the one that's quite impossible to explain to the young generation... I had come to LOVE the radio broadcasts. I thought the announcers were better... and I don't know, can't really explain, the 'vision' I created in my head from listening on the radio was fantastic. I was happier there, at my special place... and this was the SB... I wanted to maximize my enjoyment. - JamesJM
