That sounds like a kind of ritual or superstition maybe? I had mine too. When I was a kid, I never ate before big games. Literally no food at all; I fasted. Night games were just brutal. I would try to stuff myself the day before to prepare.
If the game was close at the end, I would leave the house unable to watch. I would go into the front yard and climb a tree or go onto the roof of the house. I think the last time I did that was when Ferragamo connected with Billy Waddy against the Dallas Cowboys in the 1979 NFC Divisional Playoffs.
