Not a doubt in my mind when you listen carefully to Snead and McVay that they were looking for a workhorse RB. If they thought Henderson was it, they wouldn't have used their highest pick on Cam.
I don't think they have ever thought of Henderson as a workhorse back but rather as a complementary change of pace guy. I expect we'll see a 2 to 1 ratio: Cam will get 2 downs for every 1 that Henderson gets. And if what the draftniks and Snead McVay say about Cam is true (especially his excellent 3rd down pass blocking) he'll be the game 1 starter.
About the only outcome that would shock me is see a healthy Akers essentially sidelined altogether.
But if Henderson is killing early, and Akers isn't, why would they insist on a 50-50 split, much less one in Akers' favor?
What they see once these guys are in the meeting rooms and in pads, and we're talking actual performance rather in projections and expectations - that will weigh more heavily than what McVay and Snead *think* they have right now. It's not only that Akers hasn't played a snap in the NFL yet. It's also that Henderson may come back a much better player than he left last season.
I certainly hope nothing's "given" to either guy - and I don't think it will be.
