I resonate with your analysis, Dead but disagree with your conclusions about Ram ‘20 season prospects.
I believe that the OL will provide improved results this year. If so, then this McVay O should return to top 5 status. I predict that they will acquire another RB one way or another to share time with Henderson while Gurley’s carries continue to decrease (assuming that they don’t offload him altogether). I see Higbee exploding as a pass receiver. I see Goff blossoming under O’Connell. I see our Wr Corp continuing to be the best starting group in the league.
I see a ‘different’ D under Staley. There will be better run D and I’m expecting more consistency. I believe that the Floyd and Robinson signings are being underrated at this point. I expect an elite secondary and I expect Snead/McVay/Staley to plug in more front 7 help in a heavy D oriented draft. I expect our D to finish much higher than Wade’s did. Probably top 10, maybe better.
If Bonamego can ‘fix’ our ST, then I see a SB contending team. Maybe not a favorite but a definite contender.
What makes you believe that the OL will produce better results? They appear to be returning the OL they had in the 2nd half of the season which admittedly was much better than the 1st half league worst OL but it was still just average or slightly below. What do you see as the improvement?
I agree on the D. It looks to me like their putting in pieces to be really good against the run to pair with an elite secondary. The only issue is QB pressure but when you have AD that will at least be decent. By being good against the run and having a great secondary, he'll be free to cook up some exotic blitzes to get pressure on the QB.
