I just wish they had waited because had they done so... they may think differently now
Speed I know you're not saying "they WOULD think differently now", but I highly doubt they would think differently now if they had waited a year. If they did wait a year and then decide they wanted to extend him, it would cost that much more, being a year later. In addition, say they didn't want to extend him...then what? At worst they'd be drafting in the 20s and you're not going to get a sure fire franchise QB there, not to mention we don't have a 1st rounder next year.
Goff did not have a good year last season. Way too many interceptions and fumbles and not enough TD throws and 3rd down conversions. But at the same time he makes a lot of "wow" throws. It's the inconsistency that bugs me, along with how strong pressure pretty much negates his effectiveness.
While I'm a little down on him after last season, I believe he can turn it around and I think the Rams are completely on board with him. He needs to keep on working on his game, especially those trouble spots to continue to improve. Football is the ultimate team sport and his difficulties are not ALL on him, although it's clear to any objective watcher that he does have a lot of room for improvement in some areas.
The question is: is he able to? I think so.
