Even if Rapp played it right... He would have not been able to keep up with a guy that runs 4.4 in the 40. Ramsey was the only guy physically in the area that has a chance to keep up with Sanders. Ramsey played lazy defense...He could of at least bumped Sanders off course within 5 yards instead of letting him run right by him. I don't care what coverage he was in...you let their #1 receiver with 4.4 speed run by on the fly route. Makes no sense.... My bet was that Ramsey and Rapp were told throw the game....I can't believe both got beat so badly.
Bracket defense is designed to defend a fast WR (even though I doubt Sanders is close to 4.4). The deep defender has no fear of anything underneath. All he has to do is defend anything past 12 yards. Rapp had one responsibility and a 8 yard head start. Rapp's head simply wasn't on the field on that play.
Why didn't anyone have the awareness to direct Rapp off the line of scrimmage into more of a cover two position ?.
Maybe we needed a neutral zone infraction to stop the play if there was no time out ?.
Seems like a point directed to Rapp to fade back would have solved issue.
