The '99 Rams were in need of offensive line help...they had a bunch of journeyman and added Timmerman to the mix....the Donut Bros went on to be a good offensive line!
They have to be working on it now. There are guys out there not playing that have played at a high level. Osemele, Trent Williams, etc.
Time for Les to get creative.....really, really fast.
Timmerman was a nice addition but he wasn't the only one.
The Rams also let Gandy and Wiegert walk. That's a 1st and 2nd round pick. They were not playing badly and the issues with the 97 offense were not the OL. DV changed the OL, he did not replace a bad one.
In addition to Timmerman, they added Nutten and McCollum. Nutten would start in 99 and McCollum started in 2000. Those were not glorified big deal FAs. They were basically cast-offs and budget signings.
In 99, Timmerman was one of the most expensive FAs ever at that point.
