Someone mentioned in another thread that the silver lining in all this is experience for our young guys and a clearer picture of our needs for next year.
Let's assume Whit retires and that Noteboom and starts next season on the IR. (An MCL and ACL tear for a 300 lb guy has got to be a long rehab.) Let's assume the same for Allen. Let's also assume Blythe isn't re-signed. (At $2+ mil. we might bring him back)
RT: Even if his contract didn't dictate it, you have to keep Havenstein
RG: Right now it's Edwards. I suspect it will be Evans next year.
OC: Only viable would be Corbett.
LG: Um, Demby. Oh boy. Edwards if we can find an LT.
LT: Yikes, big hole here. If we don't sign anyone else then it would likely be Edwards.
So, we could draft an OC at #2 or #3 and move Corbett to LG, or draft an LG and keep him at OC. Edwards seems to be a guy we could slot in at 4 positions.
It would produce a very young line, but not a line without hope if some of their draft status pays off. Noteboom and Allen returning only helps.
Regardless we will have a big problem at LT with an injured Noteboom an unknown status and an aging Whitworth who may/may not return.
