If he's at the end of his great career (and he seemingly is half a season from that), then they should figure it out. And if other spots are deficient then improve a couple of those.

Noteboom also received Whitworth's practice reps once a week at LT last year which was part of what gave them the confidence to have him go to LG this year. It seemed logical to have a young OL learn from the great LT he'd one day replace in part by playing by his side for a season. Even if, as is a valid point, LG isn't his ideal spot.

Maybe Noteboom is the guy for 2020. Maybe he's not. If not, draft a guy in the mid-2nd round. Or sign a jettisoned veteran tackle (like a Clay Matthews or Weddle type signing) for 1-2 years. Or give Edwards a shot in OTAs when Noteboom is still rehabbing.

I don't see it as a "well, the rest of the OL isn't good so we may as well keep him" type thing. I see it more as a "even in his declined state this guy is still better than everything we have so why not keep him at a great price?" type of thing.

I also have to say that rumors of his demise or the end of his career are greatly exaggerated. haha. Who gets to say when his career ends besides him? IMO if he's still performing at a good level and he thinks he can still bring it, that's what should drive the decision for whether his career is over.

Let's be honest LMU, you've been saying that he was gonna retire since after his first season with the Rams and you swore that he would not finish out his 3 year contract. We got into it several times on this.... I think we're underestimating the impact of great vets such as Weddle, Matthews, and Whit and we're burying them too soon.

If they're expensive and no longer performing, I'm all for putting them out to pasture but for the right price, it has to be strongly considered IMO.
