I mean you can't just draft a WR like Cooks and that kind of speed and production
4 Straight years 1K yards is impressive and not sure if that has ever been done actually
So in that regard I think you sell Cooks a little short... although I follow what your saying about his narrow(er) skill set

Since they have some time, at least a year maybe two, I look at who's skill set can they replace easiest via the draft.
I agree that the passing game is built around Cooks pulling away the coverage. We know that's why when Watkins left they immediately traded for Cooks. McVay must have the deep threat in his system.
But IMO among our WRs Cooks is probably the least skilled at his craft which to me means he would be the easiest to replace. They can draft a deep guy in the 2nd round. Plenty of those in that range every year.

Cooks is critical to McVay's system... the passing game is built around Cooks (used to be DJ in DC) pulling away that coverage
If Cooks is traded or released (and I could see it with the contract) then the Rams need to fill that role with someone and it can't be done by Kupp OR McVay changes his system

I agree that good to really good players are gonna have to be allowed to walk, dz.
I disagree that Kupp is one of them. I believe that Kupp is untouchable and will remain a Ram somehow, some way. Period.
Yeah, you're probably right. Here is my birdseye view from two years out on what's really going to happen.
They will keep Kupp but Cooks will be traded or cut. They won't be able to tie up that much money in the WR position.
