Folks, he was asked to drop back 68 times yesterday......and the offensive line was asked to pass block SIXTY EIGHT TIMES.
That doesn't work in the NFL. It didn't work for Martz; it won't work for Kingsbury...on and on.
He had three REALLY bad throws yesterday: the pick to David; the two misses up the sideline to Cooks and I think Gurley. Even on the misses he was under massive duress -- watch the plays: both OT's got destroyed....Havenstein was sitting on his butt.
This is an average OL now and Goff is plenty good enough to lead this team to the SB. He threw for 517 yards..and he led this team to the SB.
This is a case of
coaching errors....and it might be that McVay's love for Gurley is protecting him for some reason. I'm NOT sure.
The coach absolutely blew it yesterday. I don't know what is going on with the play calling, but it doesn't match the Super Bowl team at all. It's weird and has evolved in some WEIRD way......there is still is little to no use of the TE's, there is zero power game, ...where are the four WR sets.....the spread? Brady does it with quick passes.....Goff is asked to do....."gulp" ....Martzian stuff.....
Goff wasn't 2018 Viking/Chiefs exceptional yesterday......but he shouldn't have to be....asking him to pass 68 times is totally absurd.
