Right now, I would say QB, RB, TE, WR and OL are in good shape. On defense, S is in great shape, 1 of the 3 DL spots is good, with Gaines probably taking that next step next year. LBer inside is fine with Littleton. Edge guys would be Matthews, Obo, and Ebukam even if Fowler leaves. CB gets dicey depending on what the Rams do with MP and Talib.
The Rams FAs next year include:
Whitworth -11m
Fowler - 12m
Talib - 9.5m
Peters - 2m
Littleton - 3m
Brockers - 11m
Zuerlein - 2m
Blythe - .6m
Those guys counted 56m against the cap. the Rams have roughly 35m in cap space. So not all are going to be resigned obviously.
Gone:
Whitworth
Brockers
Signed:
Littleton
Zuerlein
Not sure:
Blythe - I'm not sure he is anything more then a placeholder
Peters - its a coinflip IMO
Talib - I think he comes back, but he's getting up there in age
Fowler - he's tricky, if he plays well he plays himself out of our price range, if he plays poorly, he plays his way out...so hope for a modest season?
I don't see the Rams getting any big name FAs, maybe some low priced guys ala Claymaker and Weddle. But the biggest holes will be Brockers spot, CB and Edge.
I think (as of right now 9/17/19) CBs will be better talent wise at pick say, 27 to 32. DT/DE like nick Coe, Raekwon Davis, Rashard Lawrence and AJ Epenesa are options, and then edge comes in 3rd. Edge guy that has caught my eye last year and looked good vs. louisville this year is Julian Okwara ND
