I mean that in two ways.
1. I thought the article was too negative, but it's got some substance to it. I actually enjoyed reading it, even it I didn't agree with a lot of it. So I'm not going to throw out the interesting info and insights there just because I disagree with the conclusion.
It's fair to say that Goff still has some growing and improving to do. That would include adapting and responding faster to seeing unfamiliar things (like the Bears defense ) when he looks downfield. By all accounts, the Rams and Goff have been working on this. Will he improve? Stay tuned.
What I mostly disagree with is the idea that because he struggled with it at 23 in his 3rd year, he has been exposed, and has hit his ceiling, and now Doug Farrar knows how the Goff story ends.
2nd way - not gonna throw out baby Goff with his bathwater.
I disagree with the idea that because McVay has helped him with reads, he's a dunce who can't do it on his own.
He was very young, very raw, an Air Raid guy who the Fisher regime had no idea how to handle, when McVay stepped in. If he decided to sort of "mentor" Goff via the headset for a couple of years, I don't see that as a bad thing. I see that as a way to get high production while teaching at the same time. The only way that would be bad is if it made Goff lazy, because he's just a robot, and not a learner. But that's not the case, imo.
Farrar seems to want some team to try his rotating rookie QB theory, and is disappointed that the Rams didn't oblige.
