To me the best part of this deal is it is an extension beyond 2020. The deal does not change his salary/numbers for 2019 (~$4.3M salary) or 2020 (the $22.8M 5th year option). Then the new deal kicks in. That's how the $161M/ $26.7M avg. comes together.
By the time he is in year one of that extension there will be 4-6 other QBs who have seen new and bigger deals.
Th way to do the yearly average is to treat each contract as separate.
There is no 6 year deal.
It's the rookie contract, followed in 2021 by a new and separate 4 year contract. To do the yearly avg on that you divide the extension amount by 4.
