Then, I think, those narrow parameters began to give DCs an edge because they knew what to expect and because our offense was compressed and lacked spacing. I don't believe McVay reacted very effectively. He had a couple of months between DET and the Bowl, and I am not sure he opened up those parameters.

I think more than anything I want to see our wide game operate with some horizontal space. I am not sure it's a matter of play calling, but rather one of personnel and deployment.

Anyway, we'll see.

I suspect that McVay was deliberately keeping it kinda simple as possible for Goff last year. More varied than ‘17, but certainly not the whole arsenal. Sounds like Goff is being given another level of O complexity this season.
