That McVay let Goff down towards the end of the season. His play calling was just absurd once Gurley went down. For the one defensive coordinator to imply that he let McVay down must not have watched the playoffs.
Check out "Goff Day" on YouTube:
Wish the same type of review was done for more of the Rams games from the 2nd half of the season because I also thought that McVay was getting stale with his playcalling. But this video shows that there were plenty of plays to be had and that McVay called a decent enough game, but Goff didn't take what was there and didn't always make good decisions.
Maybe it was just the Bears game but I have my doubts. I think Goff's inexperience was the biggest killer last year and as teams figured out how to take away the presnap communication and forced Goff to have to make more reads before and during the play, he just wasn't ready yet. McVay's system which propelled Goff from incompetent rookie to pro-bowler overnight, also kept him from making progress as a QB. Belichick really exposed that.
