How many run stopping MIKE LBs do you think Wade Phillips has developed over the years? Think he doesn't have an eye for them? Do you think HE doesn't have an idea what the guy can do? Granted WE don't but then the full, real equation is "Wade drafts a guy who fits a role and coaches him up." That's a cause for interested curiosity, not prayer.
Yeah I suppose he could get one wrong. But if you look at his defenses over the years, it is common for them to improve in terms of yards per rush attempt, no matter how poorly they started out when he first gets there. He has several defenses that were at least 11th in that, and of course usually higher than that.
YOU may have seen nothing last year, his redshirt year, but Wade did, and the result was, they did not draft a MIKE LB this year.
So again, that's not "prayer" territory. It's more like "hmm, Wade likes the guy, and Wade has a good record with that, can't wait to see what Kiser does with that mandate."
