He started very young he's only 28 ......IMO he is a vital part of this team......he is not a pure pass rusher, never was....he is a great D-line guy to have and if they let him walk...well try to find a guy who has done everything asked of him and has seen a lot with 7 years of experience.
IMO he is just so overlooked by some because maybe his duties have not been to shine like others across the line. Big mistake if they let him go....especially with a team that is in a prime window for a good period of time. Why let him go and then waste time replacing him?
Hey, I’m a big Brockers fan myself, Roman, but the cap is a strict taskmaster.
And we’ll have other mouths to feed, so that Brockers contract will definitely have to be considered. It’s already at $11M and who knows what it will be when he’s a FA?
We need look no further than the Saffold dilemma just a few weeks ago to know that the Rams are aware of all big contract cap implications. And Saffold was playing at a Pro Bowl level and Brockers isn’t.
Sooooo...
Truth is I would rather have replaced Hav than Saffold. I know Hav is playing well at ROT but they have plenty of candidates to play ROT and probably at a good level. They had only one multi-experienced veteran OG who was also powerful and an athlete.
Oddly, Saffold's 2019 cap hit is smaller than Hav's. Saffold's longterm contract is larger but his 2019 cap hit isn't.
I think Brockers was playing hurt last year btw. He had a better year in 2017. So is he healthier now? Does that mean he will have a better year?
