I think Spring Leagues will work just fine in mostly NON NFL cities. I look back at the USFL. In the 80s, Jacksonville was STARVED for a Pro team. Along comes the USFL and then the Jacksonville Bulls. I have been to countless football games. Even MANY HIGHLY hyped NCAA games with National Titles on the line and maybe THE most electric game I have ever been to was the Bulls vs the New Jersey Generals. Other non NFL towns like Memphis and Birmingham had good followings. A LOT of great players got their start in the USFL...Reggie White, Steve Young and Jim Kelly to name a few. IMO. this latest failure was not from fan interest but lack of $$$$$. It has become such a high dollar game, it has to be VERY hard to get a new league off the ground. TV deals are CRAZY! The USFL was able to get deals with ABC and ESPN and shown to a wider audience. This latest failure was because of piss poor marketing, IMO.
