Then, I'd trade down a few spots out of the first - pick up another 3rd - draft DT JSimmons and sit him for a year...and draft another EDGE guys that drops to the 3rd...then a OL and/or Safety.
There’s been some analysis done that coupling a great edge presence next to AD will have a synergistic effect.
There’s a reason why we led the league in pressure according to PFF but were much further down the list in sacks. ALL of our pressure is coming from the interior.
We cannot let another season go by without getting AD some help. And the more I think about it, the less ok I’m becoming with a Fowler level talent being our best edge rusher.
Earlier this year I was skeptical of trading down but I’m coming around on that view too. My current thinking is I’d like to see three things:
1) get a really good edge rusher. (Really good being defined as better than Fowler. He's my fallback option.)
2) resign Saffold
3) trade down and use the additional premium picks to address the rest of the needs.
