but if you leave penalties to be decided on interpretation....or as you say let them play....it simply goes opposite of looking like integrity and into wonders about the officials....IMO it's so simple....stop adding points to a rule to where it just can't be decided on the field.
Protection is needed for players for sure, but does that mean that refs can keep a QB safe by calling a ruffing call when it is no where near the danger of a player? ( the call against the chiefs was just so absurd, but it cost the chiefs the ball and gave the pats a 1st down)....No this stuff is just too polluted with rules that are meant to be judged and determined that it is impossible to have a game played without questions about the officiating...and IMO that's is what they are wanting to do....
Yes I agree call all games the same whether it be regular season, playoffs or SB....But really the rules are so interpretive that the actual rule is lost.....Even if you let them play like you say all the time the rules are so convoluted to allow the ref to deem it the way he sees it that we would still have issues with officiating.
