That's an admission Gurley is not well. If so that eliminates a huge protective weapon for Goff who will have to be 200%. Can he?
Why isn't it an admission that CJ is very good and has performed admirably in our offense? I daresay what he did the last 2 weeks equaled and possibly surpassed what we've seen from Gurley.
I think it's more McVay recognizes he has two weapons to throw at Dallas now.
If Gurley isn't 100% there's ZERO reason to play him at all and I really doubt the Rams would.
I think it's about how good CJ is. In fact, I think he's a better, more effective "pure runner" than Gurley. I also think this is still more incentive for both of them to play HARD.
Most of all, I LOVE the thought of them both in the backfield. Imagine Goff under center, CJ and Gurley behind him, Woods motion, threatening the jet sweep.... D's gotta figure things out in a hurry. Absolutely love it.
