But I watch the games and don't see Joyner anywhere. I have a hard time believing that the Rams are happy with Joyner being invisible when they are getting beat deep so often.
I get what you say about VB not being a very good source. That came out during the Donald negotiations when he could not find a way to stay neutral. Yet...he opnely says that THEY, the RAMS, like what he's doing. That's very far from just not criticizing a player.

VB
Joyner’s doing what they’re asking and playing the deep part of the field. They like what he’s doing.
VB aside, again, McV doesn;t openly criticize players but he doesn't sugarcoat either or cover for them. He finds diplomatic ways of saying they have a problem.
What McV says here would have to be an over-elaborate, over-detailed "cover story" for you to be right, and this regime just does not do that:
Quote
(On FS Lamarcus Joyner having a quiet year and how much of that is related to what he’s being asked to do schematically)
“Well he’s in the middle most the time, in the middle of the field playing free safety. Some games there hasn’t been any business there. You don’t see them throwing it deep over the middle very much. We try to utilize him as much as we can. (SS) John Johnson is such a good run player also it’s hard to put both of them up there, then we don’t have anybody in the middle. But we’re working on trying to do as many things as we can to spotlight him because he does things well.”
Here's an opponent sportswriter's take (Seattle guy) on how they use Joyner:
Quote
Phillips depends on single-high coverage as often as any coordinator in the NFL. .... Joyner’s play over the top frees up John Johnson to make plays all over the field
The only people saying he isn't playing well is us posters, based mostly on hunches and on downplaying what everyone who DOES watch him actually says about him.
In terms of Joyner not being here next year...I doubt there is a single Rams fan anywhere who thinks he WILL be.
