After the Franchise tag Joyner came to camp needing conditioning work. I'm wondering if getting the 11.3 million with the Franchise tag felt like winning the lotto. Did it affect his motivation? Maybe he is injured but the timing is suspicious. This is 11.3 million for a Safety who had only had a first contract as a player drafted in the second round. It seems like he pushed to move from being a nickel to being a starting FS, did well and then got content right away. He will be cheaper for some team to sign, but you would have to worry about the signing bonus having the same impact as the tag. I bet he finds his way back to good play at some point. But maybe he cost himself a multiyear deal and ends up with a one year prove it contract somewhere. Wade seems to have invested a lot in the development of Marqui Christian and Blake Countess.

Rams S Joyner to begin camp on non-football injury listUpdated: July 25, 2018, 5:56 PM ET
Associated Press
IRVINE, Calif. -- Los Angeles Rams safety Lamarcus Joyner will begin training camp on the non-football injury list.
The Rams made the decision Wednesday during annual preseason conditioning tests. The club didn't disclose any details of Joyner's injury.
Joyner can return from the list at any point, and the Rams need him healthy to be a key contributor to their defense.
The former cornerback moved to safety last season under defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. Joyner made 49 tackles and returned one of his career-high nine interceptions for a touchdown.
Joyner will make $11.28 million this season while playing under the franchise tag after he failed to reach a long-term contract agreement with the Rams earlier this month.
