When i say McVay talks to Snead, I mean he already has talked to his coaches....Then, he brings it up to Snead.
Anyways, the point I am trying to make is.........I bet McVay thinks how to improve the team 24/7, throughout the whole season. Not only play wise, but also personnel wise. That includes the cap and how we can work around the numbers and get to keep players as Rams for a long haul.
I'm not necessarily saying you're wrong, but McVay has stated before, more than once actually, that during the season, he spends ALL of his time thinking about making the team better from a HC duties perspective, watching film, designing plays, etc. According to how he's described things, he's spending this entire week thinking solely of Green Bay.
That's what he's said but it may not be true. For one, maybe he's being diplomatic. Secondly, being the hyper genius he is, he may think about a whole host of other things beyond the pure coaching role.
I think he really just relegates team-building stuff to Snead. All the reports we had of the trades, for example, go like this. Snead does all the legwork and sniffs out things and then when they have a chance to pursue something, he brings it up with McVay and they decide whether to pursue it.
I don't think he's a teambuilder. He has ideas of what he wants, at a general level, and gives a lot of input, for example on the kinds of WRs and TEs they want, but he spends his time designing offense and Snead shows up now and then and says we have a shot at so and so, do you want him.
...
Every report does indicate that's how things are done.
