Let's take it for granted that Aaron Donald is being held on a majority of plays. We've all seen it.
Let's take it for granted that the ref is seeing this, but choosing not to throw the flag most of the time for whatever reasons.
If this is a viable strategy on the part of offensive lines, then the REAL question becomes: Are the Rams doing it, too?
If the answer is "no," then McVay and Kromer are being really stupid with respect to this aspect of the game. Play the same game and play by the same unwritten rules everyone else is getting away with or expect that, sooner or later it's going to bite you in a** (ahem, SB36).
Frankly, I hope we grab and hold Khalil Mack all day long when we play the Bears. Let's see who can get away with it the most.
Holding Mack? Good in theory, bad in concept. It is extremely difficult to get away with holding an edge rusher from the LB position without it being SUPER obvious. Flags will fly!. Since Donald is bringing heat from the interior, much less likely to draw a flag since shenanigans against him can be "lost" in the trench warfare.
