Yeah. They need to enforce at least the obvious and flagrant holds where the DL has beaten the OL and is being held from behind or the side while the QB still has the ball in his hands (they call that maybe 25% of the time on Rams opponents). If they won't it just makes a mockery of the rules. They should just go ahead and legalize all other OL holds during passing plays (i.e. bear hug is OK as long as OL is between QB and DL - I don't think they call that anymore, maybe 1% of the time). It's ridiculous. AD is worth big bucks, but if they won't make the obvious holding calls his worth is significantly diminished. I'm glad McVay brought attention to it.
I don't like the idea of intentionally hurting players, but, if the refs won't call it, it makes you wish AD could learn some technique where he could break the OL's forearm on a choke hold. Give him a fair warning that if he does it again he'll break his arm, and then do it, if necessary. Make the opponent OL obey the rules even if the refs won't.
The refs are taking away the best feature of the Rams D. No wonder our D doesn't look as dominate as it should.
