Fisher took talented players and had them winning 7 games.
McVay took the same players and had them winning 11 games.
The difference between a pedestrian coach and a top tier coach.
How many games does McV win with back-up caliber qbs and wrecked OLs? Or after a move? Or with Gurley having a bad year?
Not as many as he will with all those things operating without damage.
In spite of people trying to drag this back into the Fisher wars, the fact remains. You need a good coach for an overnight turnaround but you also need talent in place, or it won't be overnight.
If that WEREN'T true, by now people would have named examples that counter that point.
You see, there you go again proving another point....Fisher thought he could get by with the buddy system at OC who ran a middle school offense, a LT who was a complete bust, a WR group where KENNY Britt was your star.....McVay was smart enough to fix all those fatal flaws in his first few months on the job. That along with being one of the most forward thinking innovative coaches in the league with the energy to change a culture of 7-9 bull@#$%& into a culture of winning virtually over night.
Dot get me wrong, I love the talent Fisher helped acquire for a coach that knows how to use it.
