We are in the age of Fantasy Football. Stats mean nothing and the rules are far too weighted in favor of the offense/QB.

Even the "great" Tom Brady crumbles under what used to be considered average pressure. Put just about any modern QB in the '80's or earlier and they'd be hard pressed to even stay on the field.

There's a reason that so many QB's are beating the odds nowadays and I don't think it has much to do with them. 400 yards and 4 TD in a game used to be a career game that many QB's would never have. Now, it's common. The NFL has turned into the Arena League and most fans seem to be fine with it. No one wants to see the Super Bowl winning QB go 9/14 for 96 yards like Bradshaw in '74. Or Bob Griese basically not even throwing any passes the year before. 3/6 and 6/7 in the Championship and Super Bowl.

So, "Chicks dig the long ball" and video games have taken over and we have what is essentially an outdoor Arena League. But this is no Golden Age of QB's. It should be telling that Mahommes did something it took seasoned HOF's to accomplish and that Ryan Fitzpatrick sits alone with 3 consecutive 400 yard passing games. The pendulum has swung too far and an equilibrium needs to be reached. RB's are now as non-essential as QB's used to be for example and when you can function in football by ignoring a position then something is wrong.

The beauty of the sport is that you need all 11 players doing their job for sustained success.

It has as much to do with the rules as anything.
