I agree with this whole-heartedly. The rules that are in place today have allowed for much gaudier numbers from QB's and receivers alike. It is very difficult to tell just who is really that good compares to the players who came before them versus who has benefited immensely from the new rules.
For example as much as I thought Antonio Brown was special, I'm not certain he was any better than an Isaac Bruce. And I sure as hell would never take any receiver today over a Randy Moss.
As far as Goff, he has an uncanny ability to be extremely accurate, and I do like how he can come off his first read and deliver the ball so well. To be certain he has improved immensely, but he has also benefited from the talent around him, Mcvay's play calling and the superior work of the OL to this point. I do not think Goff will ever have the pocket presence of an Aaron Rodgers or the mobility if the pocket breaks down, but if he continues to move quickly through his progressions and deliver the ball with striking accuracy he can still carve out an exceptional career. As an example I would not trade Goff for Wentz, but I do believe a healthy Wentz can will a team to victory by hook or by crook even if everything around him is collapsing. I don't think the same can be said for Goff, and maybe never will, and that's ok also.
