Cut Whit AND let Saffold go? Hadn't considered that. It would be tough but it's definitely an option.

There are two factors that still lead me to believe that letting Suh go is the plan.

First, the context of this thread. I'm convinced that the Rams are now using comp picks as part of their strategy. One nuance to add to all that the OP said as far as the Rams purposely playing the comp pick game, is that the Pats - one of the leagues smarter teams - have been doing a particular version of this for years.

They will sign a star player, such as a Revis, for one year, let them walk in free agency and recoup a 3rd round comp pick. It's a strategy beyond simply just letting certain players walk in FA. By signing star players to one year contracts they are actually going out and buying great comp picks while simultaneously renting star talent for a year.

From where I sit, I'm convinced the Rams are borrowing certain front office strategies from the Pats.

Another one: trading for a star player and then flipping them the next year. The Pats trade for Cooks giving up a 1st (#30). They trade him the next year for a better 1st (#23). The Rams try to trade for Mack with the intent to flip him after the season and get their picks back.

The second factor that leads me to believe that they'll let Suh walk over cutting Whit is according to Alyo, the DL/DT position in the 2019 draft is extremely deep, possibly the best he's ever seen. Snead pays attention to that stuff.
