For some reason this 6th round pick entered the collective Rams fan mind as THE 2018 summer whipping boy .
Lots of 6th rounders don't make it.
But Hemingway became the magnet for frustrated disappointment in a player.
For some reason.
...
No less a personage than McVay himself spoke very highly of Hemingway last year. In fact, McVay seemed genuinely devastated when Hemingway got hurt.
So it’s understandable why some of us fans had high hopes for the kid under McVay.
But that's weird logic.
Sounds like people should be disappointed in McVay on this.
He pumped up a player who didn't have what it takes to make it.
Again, Hemingway tried. No one anywhere faulted his effort of mindset. So he doesn't deserve this kind of negativity.
According to your own reasoning, McVay was wrong to pump up a player who turns out wasn't going to make it.
That's where the disappoinment should go.
....
No point in “blaming” anyone, is there?
McVay saw fool’s gold in Hemingway? It happens to the best of them.
Hemingway wasn’t good enough? Also happens. He was apparently a “Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane” prospect. The good news, if there is any, is that Hemingway got a fair shot and more good news is that McVay made the cut when it was apparent that the kid wasn’t gonna make it, unlike Fisher keeping Quick for years.
As an aside, does this cut mean that they like a TE already on their roster, OR is there an outside TE that they’re working on bringing in? Fingers crossed. Lol.
